The ALT-8000is a RF-based, portable Pulse Radio Altimeter Flightline Test Set that performs tests starting from with the TX/RX antenna through to cockpit indicator. This allows technicians to replicate in-flight conditions and identify faulty components of installed systems. This software upgradable, test set is designed for testing 4.3 GHz FMCW (frequency modulated continuous carrier wave) radio transmitters and pulse altimeters. Connection is simple; it can be directly connected to the transmitter/receiver ports or the user can rely on the TX/RX antenna couplers for even faster testing.
The ALT-8000 has successfully tested the Garmin GRA-55 and GRA-5500 Radio Altimeters to support helicopter, air transport, business jet and general aviation aircraft. Cessna Latitude, HondaJet and Embraer aircraft are some the most recent platforms fitted with the Garmin radio altimeters.
